The University of Northern Iowa hosts a wide variety of sporting events and arts programming, while the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center features performances ranging from our local orchestra to off-Broadway productions. Downtown Waterloo is home to the Center for the Arts, Phelps Youth Pavilion, Young Arena (home of the Waterloo Black Hawks hockey team), the Sportsplex, Bucks Stadium, and a variety of local bars and restaurants. You’ll also find many locally owned shops throughout Evansdale, Waterloo, and Cedar Falls. For entertainment and family fun, enjoy the Isle Casino, Lost Island Waterpark, and Lost Island Theme Park.
Parks & Outdoor Recreation
Providing opportunities to connect with nature and enjoy outdoor activities is a priority in Elk Run Heights. Within the city limits, residents can enjoy three community parks: Mayor’s Park, Shirley Park, and Saveraid Park. These parks offer welcoming spaces for outdoor play, relaxation, and community gatherings.
In addition, numerous campgrounds, trails, and county and city parks are located just a few miles away, giving residents even more options to explore and enjoy the outdoors.
City Hall & Community Center
City Hall is located at 5042 Lafayette Road. Attached to City Hall is our newly renovated Community Center, which is available to rent for meetings, celebrations, and special events.
